Announcement from the CT Department of Public Health and Department of Energy and Environmental Protection

A survey of CT school facilities directors found that almost 90% reported finding non-green cleaners like bleach in the classroom and about 70% find them in other areas of the school. All teachers and other staff should have access to the general green cleaner used by the custodial staff. Reducing exposure to traditional cleaners is part of efforts to reduce asthma triggers in schools. The DPH and DEEP have produced a video to help inform the public of initiatives being taken to regulate the types of chemical cleaners used in schools. All staff, parents, and students are encouraged to view the video, and become more familiar with green cleaning in CT schools.

Additional questions and answers about green cleaning products can be found here, and teachers can use these resources for classroom discussions.
